Poems and Their Forms
Acrostic: A poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word or message vertically.
Ballad: A narrative poem with a musical or song-like rhyme scheme.
Couplet: A two-line stanza that typically rhymes.
Haiku: A three-line Japanese form with a 5,7,5 syllable structure.
Limerick: A five-line humorous poem with an AABBA rhyme scheme.
Sestina: A poem with six six-line stanzas and a three-line envoy, where the end words of the first stanza are repeated in a specific pattern in the others.
Sonnet: A 14-line poem with a specific rhyme scheme, often written in iambic pentameter.
Villanelle: A 19-line poem with five tercets and a final quatrain, featuring repeating rhymes and refrains.

There are many types of poems, and each of them have their own rules and style.
A sonnet has 14 lines and it follows a rhyme pattern. Some poets like William Shakespeare writes sonnets about love and beauty, and also about time. The rhyme makes the sonnet sounds nice and easy to read.
A villanelle have 19 lines and it repeats some line again and again. This make the poem sound like a song or maybe like a echo. It usually talks about sad things or memories that people don’t forget.
A haiku is a small Japanese poem with 3 lines only. It follow 5-7-5 syllable pattern. Haikus mostly talk about nature, seasons, and little things that people see in life. It looks simple,e but it has deep meaning inside.
A sestina is a longer poem with 39 lines. It repeats six words again and again in a special order. This makes it sound like a circle or a song that keeps coming back.
Poetry helps writer to share their emotions and ideas in beautiful and creative ways. Even if the forms are different, they all show how words can be powerful and touch the hearts of people.
