Math in high school is a important subject to students who want higher education, future careers, and problem solving.
Now days, students don’t do easy 1+1 problems but starting to use algebras and not just counting numbers.
Grade 9:
Grade 9 math focuses on building basic skills, and it introduce students to algebra and geometry.
One of the major focus is to learn algebra for students to get ready for grade 10. Students in grade 9 will also work with integers, fractions, decimals, and percentages. These skills lets students have a better understanding of math and building skills for grade 10.
Students learn to solve one-step and two-step equations and represent real life situations using algebraic equations. This helps students to build confidence in solving and thinking. Students will learn how to graph linear equations, and learn what’s a slope.
These skills help connect algebra to visual representations. In geometry, students study angles, perimeter, area, volume, and the Pythagorean Theorem. They also explore basic transformations such as reflections, rotations, and translations.
Finally, students are introduced to data and probability, including measures of central tendency, reading graphs, and basic probability concepts.
Grade 10:
Grade 10 math use a lot more algebra and more steps equations. Students learn expanding and factoring polynomials, plus exponents and square roots. They also practice linear relations like graphing lines, finding slope, and writing equations from tables or word problems. Systems of equations is included too, where you solve two equations together.
Geometry and measurement keeps going with triangles, Pythagorean Theorem, surface area, and volume. Data and probability also show up more, like scatter plots and making predictions from data.
